Home birth

On November 21st, 2018 I went into labour with my first born baby boy. He was born on November 22, 2018.
Fast forward 6 years we fell pregnant again with our second baby, another boy đŸ©” and we couldn’t think of anyone more worthy then Sheryl being our midwife again, only this time we had the privilege of having Ange working alongside Sheryl to help support our growing family.

With everything going smoothly in our pregnancy we decided we wanted to have our baby at home with our oldest around. Almost unbelievably, on the 21st of November 2024 I lost my show and later that evening starting having contractions. We got the house all set up and gave Sheryl a call to let her know what was going on. Our house was quite and calm just perfect for breathing through those contractions. A few hours later the contractions got closer and stronger, another call to Sheryl and she was on her way!

Once Sheryl arrived the vibes hyped up there was lots of laughter and happiness all around, if you ask me it was absolutely perfect. Not long after a call to Ange and she was on her way as well. With contractions getting stronger and closer the pain started to take over my mind. The support from both Sheryl and Ange was amazing. Sheryl and Ange encouraged us to try different positions to help from laying down to standing to squatting to swaying. Their guidance throughout was exactly what I needed!

We had now been in labour for quite a few hours, my waters had broken and I wanted to push but nothing was happening. I was getting exhausted and the back pain was intense. Sheryl and Ange suggested getting into my bath tub, so off my partner went and ran me a nice relaxing bath with candles, perfect! Just want I needed. But it still wasn’t helping so we decided to head to Paraparaumu Maternity unit for more pain relief. Once we arrived at the unit I had the gas and got in the pool and not long after it was all go! Our beautiful boy arrived on the 22nd of November! The same day his big brother was born just 6 years apart!

Our pregnancy, labour and postpartum care was Exceptional! and we are so thankful to have had Sheryl and Ange supporting our family!
